The inspiration to write this article came from some recent harassment I have personally experienced. I know I have shared my journey of being trans. However, this article intends to provide psychoeducation. Nowadays, I have seen allies get misperceptions of the overall meaning of what it is to be trans. This heightened focus on the trans community or even BLM has made the concept of identity politics toxic.
Context: On 10/16, I experienced harassment online from a transphobic troll. I found out she had been stalking my page for about a week before this incident. This troll, whose handle is @von_carlson, approached my page, attacking the fact I was expressing positivity. She then proceeded to harass not only me but my friends as well. She was encouraging me to kill myself. Given what I have dealt with recently, which most of you know, this caught me off guard. I should not have reacted because I have felt extreme guilt for my friends for risking their mental health over this transphobic POS. Many people gave me advice, but if you understood why I fought back, I think things will make sense on why I chose the decisions I chose. I essentially locked my account because of the fact this account has been plagiarizing me. Please continue to report her account.
To provide a reader’s digest version of my personality, I am outgoing, brave, caring, compassionate, driven, and analytical. However, I never used to be that way. Before getting into psychology and counseling, I was shy, quiet, passive, fearful; my level of compassion was limited, lack of motivation but yet analytical. Going through this process of becoming a counselor and living my authentic self, I proved that how I used to be was the foundation for answers.
What I viewed as “negative traits” was that this would be a puzzle. But, unfortunately, this puzzle was also not going to give me that automatic answer, and it would have to be something that I would have to find out on my own with the help of supports. The reason I mention this is to reinforce the concept that everyone is unique. People are going to view things differently and have their meanings by their definitions. This principle of life used to be reinforced when I was growing up. However, now this concept has been used as a weapon.
My experience being trans has been very comforting but also very disheartening as well. Although I have experienced rejection from society and people in power, I live in peace knowing who I am and my values. Each person that identifies themselves as being trans has their meaning and values. As living beings, we all would like to have a universal answer to everything, but we have to face facts there will never be a universal answer. We have to acknowledge the principle that everyone is unique, and how we approach human life should be seen as such.
Just like how I approach the field of counseling, I see it as a canvas. I have all these ideas that can help me cater to that person’s uniqueness. The transgender community has a significant threat that faces them that has been ignored and needs to be discussed. The assumption with the LGBTQ+ community is that we are all seen as united when that is not the case. This has been one of the greatest disappointments with my experience being trans. Each dynamic of the acronym has expressed the tear and has engaged in a mixture of empathy and emphasis of biases.
I am not going to go into depth about each bias I see, but I will tell you that we all agree that this is who we are. We all want to be acknowledged and validated not only because it is a fundamental principle of life but it is from the fact we experience abuse from society. I think it is time to throw down some facts about the trans community and just what we experience. It is worth noting that the numbers could be higher, but there has not been enough research on this because of the lack of concern for us, but I will explain that later!
Education
The facts are this, in today’s society, there are over 2 million people who are in the transgender community. Despite race, discrimination was consistent. Of my trans siblings who are black, 49% have attempted suicide and experience extreme poverty. At least 34% were impacted. In every social dynamic, being trans experiences discrimination, but the rates are doubled for my siblings of color. Black children K-12 who are trans, 49% stated they had experienced harassment. 27% have experienced physical assault, 15% experienced sexual harassment at school, 21% have left school due to the severity of the trauma, and 6% have been expelled because of bias.
Employment
When it comes to employment, my trans siblings, who are black, 26% are experiencing unemployment, and it continues to grow. Stop listening to the garbage that is out there now that is suggesting that things are better. Just remember that mainstream media is garbage, and it sides with our enemy. So far, 32% have lost a job due to bias and 48% because of just being trans. When employed, 46% have experienced harassment, 15% physically assaulted, and 13% sexually assaulted.
Housing Discrimination/Homelessness
My Black trans siblings are currently being discriminated on housing. 38% have been denied housing due to bias, and 31% being evicted due to bias. Because of this unnecessary discrimination, 41% have now become homeless or have experienced it at some point in their life. Even when trying to utilize shelters which I may remind you is supposed to be a safe haven, 40% have been denied access to the shelters, and 61% experience harassment. Additionally, 32% have been physically assaulted, and 31% have been sexually assaulted.
Health Care
To break the news to who are severely brainwashed, 21% of my black trans siblings are being refused care due to a bias. 34% have reported that they just stopped going to a provider because they were sick of being seen as abnormal, with providers reinforcing that false garbage. A reminder we are not abnormal, just because you have been living by a principle that was modeled whether it was generationally influenced or family influence, we are all still human.
Police/Prison injustices
38% of my black trans siblings have experienced harassment, 14% physical and 6% sexual. 35% who have been arrested that main reason for injustice was bias. Because of this abuse, it was found that 51% will not seek out police assistance. 29% of my black trans siblings who have been in prison experienced physical assault, and 32% have experienced sexual assault. Before I continue, I am aware that bias has been used in these breakdowns there is a reason I am highlighting bias; I will be sure to reveal my intentions of why.
I also want to acknowledge that Latin Americans in the trans community have experienced the terrors at a significantly higher intensity rate. Below will be the stats!
Education
Trans Latin American youth it was found 77% were subjected to harassment. 36% were physically assaulted, and 13% were sexually assaulted at school. Due to this abuse and its severity, 21% have left school because of what most call protection and safety, but in reality, both concepts apply to privilege.
Employment
20% of Trans Latin Americans have experienced unemployment, and with COVID, it has significantly been higher. 26% have lost their jobs due to a bias, and 47% were denied employment because they are trans. Of those who are not citizens of America, 42% lost their jobs due to bias. 54% of trans-Latin Americans were harassed at the workplace. 16% were physically assaulted, and 14% were sexually assaulted. Latino (a) trans individuals who were not citizens, 57% experienced harassment. 47% were physically assaulted, and 38% were sexually assaulted.
Housing/Homelessness Discrimination
In terms of housing, 29% of Trans Latin Americans are refused a home due to bias, and 15% were evicted to a bias. Trans Latin individuals that are not citizens, 46% were refused a home, and 26% were evicted because of bias. Because of the biases that they experience, more end up homeless. 22% of Latin Americans have experienced homelessness at one point in their lives.
Health Care
It is worth noting, that the main problem with our health care system is not being able to have access to it. Healthcare in this country is a privilege and not seen as a fundamental human right. 23% of trans Latin Americans were refused health care due to bias. 36% of people have said that they postpone care because of being discriminated against or fear of. So far, 47% of the Latin Trans community has made attempts to end their life.
There is a reason why I wanted to highlight the statistics of trans people of color. There are shitlibs and even those on the fake left that actively engage in performative conversations and are under the false delusion that the Biden admin. is for our (Trans) community. They also seem to think they know the pains and struggles of what the trans community goes through. I can acknowledge that I will never understand the pain someone experiences of being a person of color. I can however, relate to the pain of not being accepted. However, as a trans person, each of us has different experiences stop listening to mainstream garbage.
This is how our government is killing us. Until there is unity in the trans community and acknowledge that we are unique our identity shouldn’t be overused, let me explain. I am for acknowledgement, but this has gotten to the point even if we make any criticisms we use our identity. I have gotten shit from my trans siblings and heightened the fact I am trans and I am not in a sense conforming with this narrative. A perfect example is the controversy with Dave Chappelle. I know he is completely transphobic and he is a TERF (by the way have I mentioned how much I truly despise TERFs) but I am not going to shut him out based on the fact he is both. He has made me laugh on some occassions. Please, I encourage you all to separate the personality do base a person’s opinion on context and intent.
Not that long ago I wrote an article about the exposure of MSM and politicians in terms of the abuse we are enduring. I mentioned that they have heightened narratives because they have been exposed. Identity is one of them. Now I am not saying we should not highlight identity it is very important. How it is being used these days bothers me. Also, how it is being used we should all be aware this is a weapon of power. I was talking about this with a friend and I essentially saw that heightening identity is a way of protecting themselves.
Think about it….If you look at the fact they have been exposed, they had to come up with a way to protect themselves. They had to come up with not only that protection to maintain control, but also gives that space to be who they truly are, Racists and Transphobic garbage. This had to be strong enough to where people like myself or others probably could not figure out. Well nice try, this was a very easy thing to figure out! Either try harder or Cope!
Why do you think there is not unity within one’s own community? Well one thing I want to say to my trans family that practice this toxic garbage, stop automatically having this assumption that people know the meaning of what being transgender is!! There are people out there that really have no clue about this! I had a friend actually my best friend getting called a transphobe because there was a misunderstanding of the context. Instead I saw trans people calling her a transphobe and promoting this to their followers. This is garbage behavior and continuing to engage in it will make our community weaker, ENOUGH! This is why there is no unity within the trans community.
If you are a shitlib who knows these facts about the trans community but votes for policies you know will not help the trans community or POC, you are not an ally. If shitlibs or fake leftists are going to insist inserting that they are allies then I would encourage you to practice your listening skills. I also would encourage you to put your entitled mind away. Do not dare exert the fact you know what it is like to be trans because you do not!
Many times the word bias has been seen in this article. It is the key to my proposed solution. This would be a test to see if people would actually implement this. I see this often with cis white people. Lets reveal your true bias and how it motivates with keeping in mind with the garbage you are listening to. By exposing bias and motivation you will see how it plays a role in the creation of the entitled mind. If your bias is high and intentions are in bad faith you have no business having a position of power. If you are willing to be educated that is fine with me. I consider this a compromise in my book. I cannot speak for anyone else but this is what I am ok with. Please open your mind and give us an opportunity to share our views. Let others share their views. Remember corporate media is garbage and there intentions are harmful to us. Remember the many trans lives that were taken too soon. Please support trans lives! Please support Black Lives!
Equality is more than just being acknowledged but involves having the same fundamental policies of human life. Reality tip!
