This article to be honest is one of the most emotional and hardest ones I have ever had to write. If there is one thing I have learned over this past week is true ignorance and hypocrisy is extremely real. When I first decided to write this article it’s purpose was to make an argument that we shouldn’t ignore POC in terms of journalism. However, I will still discuss this but I also want to discuss the true silence of African-Americans. Now to be clear, I am not going to parade around and act like I know everything because there are some things I will never truly understand. This intent is to remind white people that we need to sit and listen.
What has been disturbing this past week is seeing a lot of these white “leftists” defending white supremacy by justifying this as, “this was about gun rights” or “he killed a pedophile”. Those two reasons are garbage and there is no justification for being racist. Which is why I suggested that people who actively have been defending this moron they currently have BLM in their bio and this should be removed from their bio. Listen you can’t be a true ally to POC if you actively defend racism.
People have ignored the intent of this whole shitshow. For the purpose of this article I am calling this person a Karen. Karen made it known that he was going to Kenosha to cause harm to BLM. Now despite the fact what you all may believe, intent is actually important in terms of convictions. This was not about stealing guns. As humans we have the right to defend ourselves, but this was not the case here. Karen’s performance was politicized to create these issues and to ignore intent.
I also see a lot of white “leftists” who advocate for ending censorship but I never hear about the POC who have been silenced. For me, I always knew our country was racist, but after watching 40 years a prisoner it really humbled me. Now before I go in any further I do want to acknowledge that I do think Assange should be free but if we are going to press for ending censorship we have to acknowledge those who aren’t talked about. Mumia is rarely talked about and it is honestly disgusting that I see people acknowledge him only on rare occasions. Again it goes back to allyship. If your one of those people who say Black Lives Matter and are mainly silent to black issues and actively suppressing black voices by platforming a white dude then I’m sorry you are not an ally.
As a white person, I can honestly say we are entitled. Most don’t want to face the consequences of our actions. The scary part in all this is that sadly they get away with avoiding any accountability. The depressing thing about this, POC are punished for a white person’s actions in most cases.
You honestly know what should be trending #FreeMumia. Mumia exposed the true racism that lies within our system. I also want to recommend by the way Mumia’s book Have Black Lives Really Mattered? That book goes into grave detail about the racism within our system and has different cases of black lives that no one ever talks about.
Mumia is an award winning journalist and in 1981 he was elected president of the association of black journalists in Philadelphia. Mumia was also accused of killing a white cop and originally sentenced to death. Let me pause for a minute. If a white person killed a black cop, that white person will get a medal in a sense. People that are defending a white supremacist please make sense of this. Please make it make sense, but I am betting you can’t. There is no justification for it. Also, might I add anyone defending this Karen and insist he is innocent, please take ACAB out of your bio as well.
Mumia mentions in his book, that true history which coined by Howard Zinn is the “peoples history” involves everyday struggles that people go through. However, the struggles that people experience particularly POC are never talked about. POC are only discussed in my opinion when it serves as a convenience. This is not ok. If you participate in that then you are garbage.
Oh and before I go further, if white people give me shit for this, all I gotta say is cope! If your going to give me shit for this, not only will I not forget but I will be sure to expose your savior complex and hypocrisy. Mumia argues that black lives have not mattered since the building of this country and continues today. Black people were always seen as property and basically anything but human. In Mumia’s writings this was the central argument. Mumia also argues that because of being seen as property, is what makes blacks the scapegoat.
I know I mentioned this earlier but I encourage you all to check out 40 years a prisoner because this explains what black people experience for trying to fight for not only equality but even basic fundamental principle's. Since there is garbage media people need to know the truth about Mumia.
John Africa was an anti-capitalist. The organization MOVE and John Africa were painted by MSM as a cult. I noticed in this film they gave more air time to cops openly expressing racism but very little to MOVE. The media did what it was supposed to do which paint MOVE as toxic. MOVE engaged in eating raw food, no meat, and actively promoted the idea that capitalism, war, and racism are the true opposition of a healthy life.
Even in todays society, any movement or organization that promotes a change they will always be seen as a cult. You know why? It’s because the people who are in power truly do not want change, they give enough crumbs which they feel will suffice the people. See the government knows the solutions but until we rise up, then we will continue to be fed crumbs.
I often find this funny that society promotes mental health and standing up against abuse. However, what Mumia has done which is essentially not only standing up for himself but his community, he actively was getting suppressed and still is. That’s why I personally turn off the phone when I hear garbage media promote the importance of mental health and fighting back because when they do this, it is a cop out. It’s a form of a crumb. Because if they really cared we would be living happily. Sadly, most people have fallen for this. I have made a point in this field, any client I see I want to make them strong advocates.
Mumia is a strong advocate! If you truly believe in advocacy of using your voice then you must make movements to those who are actively being suppressed. I want to now direct this discourse to the experiences Mumia experienced prior to being Incarcerated.
The organization MOVE was experiencing unjustifiable harassment. MOVE took in animals that people just threw away. The cops gave them a 90 day ultimatum to find the animals a new home and when they couldn’t the members of MOVE experienced an invasion by the cops. The cops tried to find any weapons and just overall trying to find ways to smear them. MOVE accepted everyone that was willing to take down the system. In other words they accepted anyone regardless of what was being taught to people prior even those who were not opened to what true racism is.
Right here is where I want to highlight that just because there is someone you don’t like don’t isolate them out of the movement especially if they share the same goal. The goal is to take down the system and you can’t do that if you are actively engaging in Hollywood culture. Anyone that promotes a take down of the system but still acts this way is why I cannot take you seriously.
For those who don’t know what happened to MOVE, In 1978, the cops invaded them in attempt to get them to leave. By the way the reason for wanting them to leave was a garbage one. Have I also mentioned that the cops kills black children and even a baby. Even with the baby, they tried to make that child non-existent to escape responsibility. In may of 1985 which I was about a few months old, police invaded MOVE again but this time it was more deadly.
Cops dropped explosives onto the rooftop of MOVE’s organization which resulted in the deaths of eleven people 5 of them were children. This also shouldn’t be surprising the garbage media never reported the fact the cops dropped C4 explosives on the rooftop. Although found guilty of negligence the fire department and cops did ZERO time. This is one of the many confirmations on not only the hypocrisy but racism.
So I ask, if you are for true press freedom and are a true ally, let’s make more movements. This system must be taken down because not only is racism seen here in America, but with Americans going to other foreign countries killing black and brown people including children for no reason it must stop. Mumia exposed the racism and his conviction must be overturned. It only took 3 hours to determine Mumia’s fate by the way. It shows our legal system is so quick to put POC away. Mumia even today has experienced injustices as a prisoner.
Mumia is currently getting murdered by our system and it is our duty as human to help save his life. As a white trans man, I will be sure to keep writing and advocating for his release and make sure he is not silenced. Please stand in solidarity with Mumia and let’s boost his voice and demand his freedom. Let’s stop the racism not only in America but in other countries, particularly in Yemen!
